Regiunea Transilvania (sau Ardealul) este o regiune istorica si geografica situata in interiorul arcului carpatic, regiune istorica a Romaniei. In urma aparitiei romanului Dracula, publicat in 1897 de Bram Stoker, Transilvania a fost asociata cu vampirii si genul de filme horror in general.

In sensul foarte larg, Transilvania desemneaza teritoriul de la vest de Carpatii Orientali si nord de Carpatii Meridionali, aceasta incluzand si Banatul. Transilvania este un platou inalt, separat la sud de Muntenia prin lantul Carpatilor Meridionali si in est de Moldova prin Carpatii Orientali. Pe teritoriul Transilvaniei se afla judetele: Alba, Bistrita Nasaud, Brasov, Sibiu, Cluj, Covasna, Harghita, Hunedoara, Mures si Salaj.

The Transylvania (or Transylvanian) region is a historical and geographical region located within the Carpathian arch, the historical region of Romania. In the broad sense, Transylvania designates the territory to the west of the Eastern Carpathians and north of the Southern Carpathians, including Banat. Transylvania is a high plateau, separated south from Muntenia through the chain of the Southern Carpathians and east of Moldova through the Eastern Carpathians. On the territory of Transylvania are the counties: Alba, Bistrita Nasaud, Brasov, Sibiu, Cluj, Covasna, Harghita, Hunedoara, Mures and Salaj.
